centering

Turning a corner. After immersing in the direct human history of the genocide, we spent days encountering systems that emerged in response (juridical, educational, financial, educational), and are now heading into Centre x Centre, our performance festival rooted in artistic response to the genocide. The origin of the festival is this focused issue (recovery from genocide); CxC has dialed out to include artists allied in a global conversation on peace and social transformation. We have guests from the U.S., Sweden, Burundi, Uganda, Tanzania, as well as from throughout Rwanda. We are particularly pleased to welcome back Theatre Factory (Kampala), who are also our partners as we cross the border north-east. They are following up this year with a first iteration of the CxC festival Uganda in about a week…

Today, we’ll be meeting with film makers, and visiting the U.S. embassy; the formal program begins tomorrow, with workshops and performances…
