See Robbie McCauley’s Sugar. She’s uncanny – she takes the materials of daily life (intimate, specific, floating) and associates them with the mysteries and hardships of swirling history. So diabetes is convincingly bound up with the triangle slave trade as archived in the body… Seriously! And good to see a woman talking about an accumulation of many years and a war waged from the inside out also dance with such alluring duende.
